Forest and Fauna Sanctuary Montville Day 1: 26 January 2024

Day 1: This was an exciting day. There were 4 of us, Jono Bateman and his crew Kaelan Gooch, Serefina Morris and myself. We started in section A where the forest had the highest concentration of Flindersia australis. The forest was alive with chatter from the birds and insects. The high octave of the cicadas made it impossible to talk to each other from our 10 meter spacing formation as we worked down the embankment. We hand pulled many privet and Celtis senensis. The larger weed species were ringbarked in situ allowing the leaf litter to drop slowly for mulch.
